St Chad's Catholic Primary School

Walking in Faith Together

At our school, walking in faith together means living out our Catholic values both within the school and in partnership with our parish community. We believe that faith is not just something we talk about, but something we practise every day, supporting one another in our journey with God.

  • We begin our week with Gospel Assemblies, where we reflect on the message of the Gospel and discuss how we can live it in our daily lives. Daily Collective Worship in our classrooms is an opportunity for us to come together as a community, praying and reflecting on our faith.
  • Our strong connection with the Parish is a key part of walking in faith, and we are blessed to attend Masses at the Cathedral, such as the Immaculate Conception Mass on 8th December and the Chrism Mass during Holy Week, where we join with others in worship and prayer.
  • We come together for the annual Weekend of Faith & Culture at the Cathedral, where we always lead one of the Masses, sharing in the joy of our faith as a school and parish family.
  • We involve parents through RE-themed Inspire Workshops, helping to deepen our shared faith and strengthen the connection between home, school, and parish.
  • Some of our pupils serve as Altar Servers, taking an active role in parish life and school Masses.
  • Children are invited to read at Parish Masses at the Cathedral, such as the Holy Thursday Mass celebrated by the Archbishop.
  • We are also blessed to have Mini Vinnies sessions in school, attended by members of the SVP from the Cathedral. During these sessions, pupils come together to learn about kindness, empathy, and how to make a positive impact, all while developing a strong sense of responsibility towards others and their community.
  • Throughout the year, we actively support and participate in Parish events, such as the annual Weekend of Faith & Culture at the Cathedral, where we have the privilege of leading one of the Masses. These occasions allow us to come together and celebrate the joy of our faith as both a school and parish family, deepening our sense of community. We also had the privilege of joining Fr. Tim at Lichfield Cathedral for the translation of a relic of St. Chad, an occasion that brought our school community together in faith with the wider Christian community.
  • Our Choir also supports the Parish by participating in events organised by external organisations, such as the West Midlands Carol Concert and the Friends of the Holy Land fundraiser. Through these performances, we walk in faith by using our talents to spread joy, raise awareness, and support charitable causes, all while deepening our connection with the wider faith community.
  • Our sacramental programme helps to prepare children for the sacraments.
  • We hold our KS2 Nativity concert at the Cathedral, and the parish community is warmly invited to join us in this special celebration. This event is a wonderful opportunity for us to walk in faith together, as we come together in prayer and song to share the true meaning of Christmas and strengthen our bond as a school and parish family.
