Curriculum
Our Curriculum at St Chad’s
At St Chad’s, we provide a transformational curriculum that supports the formation of our children and school community, deeply rooted in our Catholic faith. Our Building the Kingdom curriculum is designed to help children grow in knowledge, skills, and virtues, empowering them to live out our shared Christian values and make a positive difference in the world.
Our curriculum focuses on:
- Helping children build both knowledge and skills to develop a love of learning and a curiosity to know more.
- Learning through a structured and progressive curriculum that builds on prior knowledge, fosters essential skills, and promotes critical thinking
- Preparing children for the future, equipping them with the tools to think critically and solve problems in an ever-changing world.
- Developing a love of reading, encouraging children to explore new ideas, think deeply, and engage with the world.
- Supporting children’s self-awareness and well-being, teaching them to care for themselves and others with love and compassion, as Christ teaches us.
Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching
Our curriculum is shaped by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, ensuring that our children grow in understanding of justice, compassion, and service:
- The Dignity of the Human Person – We believe every person is valuable, created in the image of God.
- Option for the Poor and Vulnerable – We are called to care for those in need, ensuring fairness and justice for all.
- Stewardship – We teach the importance of looking after God’s creation and protecting the environment.
- Call to Family and Community – We build strong, supportive relationships within our school, parish, and community.
- The Dignity of Work – We respect all kinds of work, knowing that our efforts can honour God and help others.
- Solidarity and the Common Good – We work together to create a fair and caring world.
- Rights and Responsibilities – We understand that with rights come responsibilities, and we are called to care for others and live by Christ’s example.
At St Chad’s, we aim to provide an education that inspires and empowers children, preparing them not only for the next stage of their learning but also to live out their faith by following Christ, showing love and kindness to others, and embracing Gospel values in their daily lives.

Our curriculum brings these principles to life by exploring human rights and the responsibilities that come with them. Through carefully selected, high-quality books, children develop a deeper understanding of these values, engaging in meaningful discussions and learning to think critically.
Where possible, these principles are woven into National Curriculum subjects. For example, in History, we have carefully chosen areas of study that reflect our school community and connect closely to these values. Across all subjects, we have designed a clear teaching sequence that builds on prior knowledge, deepens understanding, and develops key concepts over time.
